Honey and flame: the new kit of Salavat Yulaev
The major hockey club of Bashkiria is named after the national hero of the republic. Bashkir Hockey School has played an important role in the development of national sport, regularly training world-class masters. Prior to the 2023/24 season the studio has designed a new game kit for UFA’s club.

Forest beekeeping has flourished on the territory of modern Bashkortostan since ancient times. Today honey is an iconic symbol of the republic, which has achieved outstanding success in its production. The expression “Bashkir honey” is an officially registered trademark.
Honeycomb, a symbol of the hive cell, represents hard work and the ability of cooperation. Traditional (UFA) hockey values are repeatedly reflected on the team kit. As a result, the famous “three screws” symbol evolved and reshaped to hexagons.

The inside collar was decorated with one of the final lines of Salavat Yulaev’s poem “The Battle” — “And I’m getting ready to go into battle again.” In the center of the frame is the silhouette of the monument to the poet—storyteller, one of the main postcard views of Ufa. The edges of the frame are limited by a national ornament, which has an angle of 48°, identical to the angle of the logo construction.

For the jersey numbers, the studio has developed a hexagon-based font but with a less extreme angle of 20°.
The perforation inside the number repeats the shape of the honeycomb. The complicated graphic gradient tends from large holes to small ones at the bottom of the cell. The bottom of the number was adorned with a stylized inflorescence of seven petals of the kurai. The flower is a symbol of friendship and unity of the people of Bashkiria. The captain’s letters have honeycombs embroidered in color giving them the right appearance.

An essential detail on the inside jersey collar is a collaboration patch between Steel Axes equipment company and Quberten studio which developed the jersey design. In addition to the internal patch an external patch is also provided.

The spectacular neon kit has also been updated. Now the thickness of the stripes on the sleeves matches the thickness of the “malakhai-hat” contour lines on the triangular logo, while maintaining graphical logic.
